DINING ETIQUETTE

Your 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade Children

Are Cordially Invited to Participate in a

Dining Etiquette Class

Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 6:30-8:30pm

Due to popular demand, as an extension of the Cotillion, The Saturday Club will be offering a Dining Etiquette class for children in the 4th through 6th grades on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 6:30-8:30pm. The class will be instructed by renowned Cotillion instructor Jon D. Williams, and will include a three-course meal provided by Perfect Setting Catering from Berwyn, PA.

"The dinner table is the center for the teaching and practicing not just of table manners but of conversation, consideration, tolerance, family feeling, and just about all the other accomplishments of polite society except the minuet."

- Judith Martin, American Author and Journalist

Today, as well as in the past, dining is almost universally associated with sense and civility. Eating is not just a necessity; it is also a ritual of sharing our well-being and extending respect and courtesy toward others. With family, friends, and business associates dining etiquette demonstrates our social skills, our hospitality and - most importantly - our education.

This dinner program will instruct the students on the rules and taboos of dining etiquette and table manners. The evening will cover the essential information one needs to know, which is relevant to today's culture. The goal of this is to make the students feel more comfortable and confident in any dining situation.

Course highlights include:

  • Why is it so important?
  • Table Etiquette/Table Manners - is there a difference?
  • What, Where, When, and How - Rules of the Table
  • What's all this Stuff?
  • Silverware Savvy
  • Home, Guest, and Restaurant
  • Table Do's and Taboos

The menu will include rolls with butter, green garden salad with raspberry vinaigrette, herb-and-parmesan encrusted chicken breast with lemon butter, green beans with red and yellow pepper confetti, mashed Yukon Gold potatoes, and chocolate mousse for dessert.

Boys are required to dress in coats, ties, and hard-soled shoes. Girls are required to wear dresses or dress skirts with blouses, flats or low heels (no sandals, mules, or boots), and white gloves (optional for the Dining Etiquette class).

Membership is $75 for each child. Membership for the Etiquette Dinner is limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register early. Click here to register.
