AMERICAN GIRL FASHION SHOW THE SATURDAY CLUB CONCLUDES NINE YEAR RUN AS PRODUCER OF THE AMERICAN
GIRL FASHION SHOW
WAYNE, PA – November 29, 2011 – The Saturday Club announces that, after nine successful years, the group decided in
June 2011 to conclude its tenure as presenter of the American Girl Fashion Show in the Philadelphia region. Following the
Club’s decision to step down, American Girl Programs has selected The Junior League of Philadelphia to present the 2012
shows.
Since hosting its first American Girl Fashion Shows in 2003, The Saturday Club has raised more than $750,000 for
organizations including the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), Dragonfly Forest, Mommy’s Light Lives On, The
Children’s Crisis Treatment Center, and The Center for Autism. More than 1,000 people attended last year’s shows, which
featured approximately 200 girls from the greater Philadelphia area modeling fashions from the popular American Girl brand.
“We are incredibly proud of the impact The Saturday Club has had as host of the American Girl Fashion Shows,” said Jeanne
Dechiario, Saturday Club president. “After nine years, however, it was time for our Club to look for new opportunities to
serve our community. We are excited to channel our skills into new fundraising opportunities to benefit women and children
in the greater Philadelphia region, and wish the Junior League the best of luck as they host the 2012 fashion shows.”
