125th Anniversary

Since 1886, The Saturday Club has worked to support our community through volunteerism and philanthropy. As one of the oldest women’s organizations in continuous existence in the country, established when women’s organizations were considered a radical idea, our club has been and continues to be a leader in our community.

As early as 1907, The Saturday Club was a leader in campaigning for child labor laws and the protection of women from assault. Our historic clubhouse once served as a hospital under the American Red Cross during the 1918 Influenza Pandemic and today provides a valuable community meeting and event location. In our most recent history, our club has donated over $750,000 since 2002 to more than 75 worthy charitable organizations in the greater Philadelphia region.

This year, The Saturday Club will celebrate 125 years of service with an Anniversary Gala on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 7:00pm, where we will proudly honor our heritage and our history with a retrospective of memorabilia, photographs, and artifacts of years past. In addition to the Gala, the celebration weekend will include a Champagne & Strawberries reception on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 11:00 am. Both events will be held at our clubhouse in downtown Wayne.

We look forward to sharing our 125th Anniversary Celebration with our members past and present, our partners with whom we have worked as volunteers and philanthropists, and the community at large. Thank you for your support of The Saturday Club and its endeavors.
